4/25/11 - Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 3D votes to oppose key elements of the 2011 American University (AU) Campus Plan, including student housing at a proposed new “East Campus” site immediately adjacent to residents’ homes in Wesley Heights and Westover Place.

4/21/11 – ANC 3D posts AMERICAN UNIVERSITY 2011 CAMPUS PLAN: SUMMARY REPORT AND PROPOSED ACTIONS FOR ANC 3D

4/7/11 - City Council Chairman Kwame Brown writes Anthony Hood, Chairman of the DC Zoning Commission, emphasizing residents’ concerns about objectionable conditions which would result from the Expansion Plan. Chairman Brown urged the Zoning Commission to NOT consider the American University Campus plan until the residents concern are taken into account.

3/31/11 - At Large Council Member Sekou Biddle, at that same meeting, characterized AU as "completely tone deaf" to it's neighbors and that he would not stand by and literally see neighborhoods destroyed by universities.

3/31/11 - City Council-At-Large Candidate, and former two-term Councilman Vincent Orange stated at a Ward 3 Democratic Committee Candidates' Forum, where Neighbors for a Livable Community demonstrated and gave out flyers, that he is "opposed to the AU campus plan, opposed to the Georgetown campus plan" and that he would do everything he could to preserve our neighborhoods.

3/30/11 - City Council Chair Kwame Brown met with a gathering of residents from Spring Valley, Wesley Heights, Tenleytown, Foxhall and Westover Place at Westover Place and assured them of his complete support of neighborhoods in the battle against university expansion. He pledged to do all that he could to elicit support from his fellow Council members for the preservation of our neighborhoods city-wide.

2/24/11 -- Mayor Gray tells Ward 3 Dems that perhaps the Zoning Commission should return the upcoming university draft 10-year plans so the universities get the message they need to listen more to the community.
